Hughes Eyeing Three Points

Many of the Blackburn Rovers players will head off to represent their countries in the latest round of European Championship qualifying matches after today's match with Wigan Athletic.

Mark Hughes wants them flying off with another three points for Rovers behind them:

"A win would really cap a good period off for us. We send most of the guys away on international duty next week and it is always better to send them away on the back of a victory.

"After a defeat you want opportunity to work with your players immediately after the game, but with international breaks that is not possible so we will definitely looking for the win."

Having booked their place in the group stages of the UEFA Cup following Thursday's morale boosting European victory over Salzburg, making it five games unbeaten for Rovers, they entertain Wigan in what will be a difficult match, but a match that they will feel they can win to make it three successive Premiership wins. Hughes knows just how difficult the match will be though:

"Wigan are a big strong powerful side. The way they play they will always ask questions of you. You have to have the answers.

"They hit a number of balls up to the guys up front who have ability in the air and with pace beyond, it is a good mix.

"We will have to be on the front foot as they are a good side. I have no doubt they will have a decent season this year and we will certainly have to play well to beat them."

Would be a good way to end before the International break, so lets hope they do fly off secure in the top ten with another three points!

I think it will be difficult. I predict that we will have run out of steam a little after such an impressive run of results. Still, you never know...COME ON ROVERS!!!!
