Rovers loan out Goodwillie

Rovers loan out Goodwillie

David Goodwillie has completed a loan move back to his old club Dundee United.

Goodwillie has struggled to breakthrough into the Rovers first team and has struggled for fitness and form since being signed for just over £2m back in the summer of 2011.

A decision has been reached by Rovers manager Gary Bowyer to loan him back out to get some games under his belt with the new season now just a month away. But the gaffer has insisted that he isn't being thrown out in the cold and discarded.

"We are not pushing David out of the door,' Bowyer told the Rovers official website.

"In the two years he has been at the club, he has not played as many games as he would have liked and this move presents him with the chance to play some regular football.

"It is an opportunity for him to go back home and play for the club he joined us from and where he made a name for himself.

"He will have family and friends around him and we expect him to find his feet very quickly. We look forward to welcoming him back in January once he has got some games - and hopefully some goals - under his belt.'

Irish Eyes Are Smiling

Blackburn`s game against Doncaster had already been called off. If it hadn`t, it definitely would with the Republic of Ireland`s decision to include two defenders in the final squad.

No Tippy-Tappy Performer

Bradley Dack has proven plenty of ability on the ball and has a keen eye for a goal, but the former Gillingham man has also show he's physically able and willing to get stuck in.

Modest Marksman

You'll not find many who haven't been impressed by Armstrong since he came to Blackburn. The on-loan Newcastle forwards goalscoring exploits speak for themselves.

Different Date Same Outcome

International call ups for Leutwiler, Mulgrew and Evans, along with provisional calls for Lenihan and Williams mean the trip to Doncaster has changed, the hoped outcome wouldn't.
