Rovers set up nicely for Salzburg

With Blackburn Rovers' UEFA Cup first round second leg only days away the clubs recent upturn, not only in performances but also results sets them up nicely for Thursday night.

Having drawn with Sheffield United 0-0 in the Premiership, starting their unbeaten run prior to the first legs 2-2 draw with Salzburg in Austria, with the run now extended to four games, with the last two having been won, most, if not all at the club feel this run can be extended to five and the club will advance:

"We're on a run of four games unbeaten, seven goals, two clean sheets. We are looking ahead to Salzburg with a great deal of confidence.

"We're in the driving seat and want to progress to the group stages. We're capable of that," would be the thoughts of Mark Hughes.

The Middlesbrough win on Saturday would make it back to back wins for Rovers which is ideal preparation for the tie at Ewood Park against Salzburg, Robbie Savage would say:

"Getting three points against Middlesbrough sets us up nicely for Salzburg.

"But it is going to be a very difficult game.

"Lets not underestimate them, they've got some top players, we have got the advantage but it is going to be difficult, but we can hopefully progress there."

Fresh from his best game for the club, Andre Ooijer, the man who 74% of you felt is the best option in central defence to play alongside Stephane Henchoz (who you also feel should be brought into the side) also thinks Rovers can do what is needed on Thursday night:

"When we play as we did in the first half in Salzburg, we have to be confident.

"We scored two away goals which is very important in Europe, so yes we have to do it now."

Recent form suggests that European Football at Ewood Park has a very good chance of continuing for some time yet, so let's hope that all three are proved right and Rovers can advance to the knockout stages.

with 2 away goals it does set it up nicely, but as we have seen in Europe b4 God awful things can happen, as Hughes says it's in there hands and hopefully wont throw it away. Come on Rovers!!!!!
Clint
Fingers crossed Clint, as you say to a certain extent their destiny is in their own hands so lets hope it won't be another night of European disappointment!

marshinrover
I guess you mean win the game tomorrow marshinrover and not the tournament overall, although they could but a little early to think like that just yet?
Hughes Da Man
well i suppose but its still a great thought
marshinrover
I'm not doubting it marshinrover, I think they can win it. Anything less that the round after the group stages wouldn't be good enough though!
