Rovers appoint Short as coach

Rovers have this evening announced former player Craig Short as a first team coach at Ewood Park.

Short was a player at Rovers for six years between 1999 and 2005 and was unanimously popular as a bruiser centre back and he has admitted his delight at a return to a club he has fond memories of.

Short told the official Rovers website - 'It was an opportunity that I couldn't refuse, I had six happy years here.

'I came back for the charity game at the end of the season with some of the old players and I got the same feeling about the place.

'I probably had my most successful time here as a player, so it was an easy decision.'

Short will serve as part of Gary Bowyer's coaching set up with immediate effect.

Welcome back Craig.
