Shaw reiterates Rhodes stance

Shaw reiterates Rhodes stance

Rovers Managing Director Derek Shaw has confirmed this morning that there hasn't been a transfer request handed in by star striker Jordan Rhodes.

There were numerous rumours (ed - unsubstantiated nonsense) floating around yesterday that Rhodes had made it clear he wanted to leave the club he has been at for a solitary year so far but Shaw has stepped in to deny these reports.

Former Preston man Shaw has confirmed that an enquiry was lodged - most probably from Hull - but they were told to do one, especially considering there apparent bid was to be about £4m.

"I`ve no idea where this has come from (cough twitter cough), there has been no transfer request handed into our office," Shaw told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"I have heard nothing at all about him wanting to leave. I know Gary has spoken to him a couple of times and I have spoken to his representative. As far as we`re concerned he is very happy here.

"Things can change very quickly in football but certainly there has been no written transfer request at the moment.

"There was an enquiry from a club that have been talked about in the press, but we told them he was not for sale."

Anyone got any good book suggestions for a summer read?

It's going to be a long one...
