Bowyer ready for round two

Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has set his players a target of three wins to stave off the threat of League One ahead of his second spell at the Rovers helm which starts on Friday.

Bowyer had a brief but very well received caretaker stint back in late December and early January which ended abruptly with Michael Appleton being swiftly appointed ahead of a Friday night game against Wolves.

But Bowyer was a popular caretaker in his time serving alongside Terry McPhillips and the hope is there that he can work his magic a second time around.

"I think the task is always difficult because you`re trying to win a game of football," Bowyer told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"I think there`s a bit more at stake this time. When we took over last time we were just looking after it for the manager coming in. This time it`s the same but the league position is a little bit more delicate than it was last time.

"Three more wins should see us right.

"You`ve always got to be realistic. The main thing is we`ve got to try to get some wins as quickly as possible then hopefully we can start climbing the table because it`s been a tough season and we need to try to finish it on a high now.

"It (the situation) is not ideal, but I`m employed by the football club and I`ll give it my best shot and do what we need to do until told otherwise.

"We`ll go about it the way that we did last time and hopefully we can start picking up points again."

Fingers crossed for Gary and his team. We need to see an upturn in fortune and fast!
