Vital Blackburn's most recent Poll asked you who you felt was worthy of the title "Player of the Month for August?" You voted in favour of Brett Emerton.
With Brett Emerton (65%) and Lucas Neill (21%) having been voted the top two in the "Defender of the Month for August" poll, David Bentley (90%) easily voted number one in the "Midfielder of the Month for August" poll and Benni McCarthy (56%) and Paul Gallagher (17%) the top two in the "Forward of the Month for August" polls it came to a final decider…
Benni McCarthy would have the early advantage before Brett Emerton would surge back. It would remain close for a while but Emerton with almost half the votes with 45% would eventually take the crown. A burst from David Bentley, ending with 28% would see him end as the runner up. Benni McCarthy would finish in third place with 15%.
Having looked likely to leave Ewood Park in the summer Emerton would eventually sign a new contract, and with Mark Hughes looking for further defensive options the Australian winger would be played as a right back, with fellow Aussie Lucas Neill moving across to the left hand side. This conversion has been a complete success so far, proof being Emerton picking up not only the award as Player of the Month for August, but also the honour of Defender of the Month for August.
So in summary
Brett Emerton - 45%
Lucas Neill - 8%
David Bentley - 28%
Benni McCarthy - 15%
Paul Gallagher - 4%
After last nights UEFA Cup tie the current poll had to be based somewhat around this so it is asking "Will Salzburg Act As A "Catalyst" On Rovers' Season" This poll was inspired by Vital Blackburn member roversman with his use of "will this result act as a catalyst for Rovers' season" (or words to that effect) in a recently posted comment.
With penalties being the source of so much interest surrounding Ewood Park the next poll after the current one, and subsequent ones down the line will have to revolve around this topic.
Congratulations to Brett Emerton he fully deserved the accolade of Player of the Month for August.
As for what you think, why not have your say...
