Loan window set to open

The emergency loan window is set to spark a flurry of late transfer window activity with our Rovers in particular looking for reinforcements, and also to right a few wrongs.

Jerome Thomas and DJ Campbell, the two players the club were on the cusp of adding permanently on transfer deadline day, are again the two main names in the frame with Rovers aiming to bring both in on loan.

With Rovers badly in need of a few extra bodies Michael Appleton and the gang will be making fresh approaches for West Brom winger Thomas and QPR striker Campbell.

The Campbell deal should not pose much of a problem with the player all but announcing his imminent arrival on his twitter account 48 hours ago and QPR desperate to lower the wage ceiling they've built up for themselves.

But the Thomas deal looks a little bit more touch and go with WBA unsure as to what to do with him given the current standoff with wantaway motorway hogger Peter Odemwingie, who is also subject of interest from Crystal Palace.

Rovers are also in the market for a defender, with the name of the number one target in question revealed on the VB forum last night.

Elsewhere, the signing of defensive midfielder Lee Williamson (who is a free agent) is still expected to be completed and announced at some point.

There is also a few outgoings expected with several members of the 'illustrious' Tapas Six due for deaprture out on loan. Both Edinho Junior and Paulo Jorge are heading out to pastures new on loan until the end of the season.

There could also be temporary (at first) exits for Paul Robinson and David Goodwillie.

So in short, don't expect this window to be deathly boring... unless the fax machine breaks again.
