McCarthy Top Forward

McCarthy Top Forward

Vital Blackburn's most recent Poll asked you who you felt was worthy of the title "Forward of the Month for August?" You voted Benni McCarthy top man.

Having been the only goalscorer for Rovers in August, in fact the scorer of the one and only Rovers goal in August Benni McCarthy (who I'm still awaiting an image for I'm afraid, hence the lack of an image of him) has been voted Forward of the Month for August with 56% of the votes.

Joining McCarthy in the poll to decide who will be the overall Player of the Month for August will be Paul Gallagher. The young Scot, who's performances would come from the bench would pick up 17%, with Jason Roberts on 12% just behind.

Francis Jeffers would gain 9% with former Rovers striker Shefki Kuqi, now with Crystal Palace following his deadline day £2.5 million move the final 6%.

So in summary
Paul Gallagher - 17%
Francis Jeffers - 9%
Shefki Kuqi - 6%
Benni McCarthy - 56%
Jason Roberts - 12%

As Steven Reid and Robbie Savage both tied a joint second behind David Bentley for Midfield I was left with the decision of which one to advance. However as neither is ultimately worthy of a place, a mere 4% each confirming this I decided neither should.

So as the search for the Rovers player of the month for reaches its conclusion the current poll (running for the whole of Thursday and Friday only, maybe less?) is asking "Player of the Month for August?"

Vote for who you felt deserved the title as Vital Blackburn Rovers Player of the Month for August.

Well lets hope that McCarthy can become the scorer of the second Rovers goal tonight! If he can't hopefully others will.

he has a fine first touch and can turn on a dime, we have yet to see his pace and the power shots... there's still time... I don;t think he has quite found his prem confidence, he has laid a lot of shots off. Once he does find his "boots" then I truely believe he will prove to be the "find of the season"... let's hope it doesn;t turn out to be another Pongolle.

Benni has looked sharp and showed in glimpses his undoubted quality. I feel another goal for him soon will really get his confidence going. Fingers crossed that that goal will come tonight!

He took his goal against Everton really well didn't he, very good move. Had he scored that one against Chelsea when he brought it down on his chest he'd have already gone on a scoring run I think. It takes time to adjust doesn't it and he will do I'm sure.

I agree, we saw what he is capable of doing in the area in a flash against Chelsea. Let's just hope he can repeat something like that tonight but with a bit of luck as well.

His performances deserved a greater return of goals. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he WILL score tonight.

Well I will back you up on that Hughes Da Man as I strongly believe the pace will suit his game more. I will stick my name out and go so far as saying we will score twice tonight...Ooijer with one as well to silence his detractors.
