Loan window set to close

Loan window set to close

The emergency loan window for NPower Football League clubs closes tonight at 5pm and with it will go the last chance (until January) for clubs to bring in reinforcements to their squad.

For Rovers what appeared to be a fairly quiet end to proceedings could yet turn out to be a bit eventful.

News reaches the footballing community that Rovers are attempting to bring back former Blackburn no.1 Brad Friedel, initially on loan. Something of a surprise.

The club were trying to reach some sort of agreement with Spurs yesterday afternoon/evening but nothing has been forthcoming as yet with Spurs reluctant to let their competition to Hugo Lloris go. But it is expected that Rovers will try again today prior to the deadline with Brad likely to be tempted to move back with the lure of a coaching role included.

Elsewhere, Rovers are just waiting on Venky's (yes I know) to sign off on the deal to bring in Manchester United youngster Joshua King, which will be with a view to a permanent deal in January. Expect that one to go through in due course.

I'm not quite sure how bringing in a 4th keeper could be considered an 'emergency' but I don't think there are many who would turn their noses up at the return of the eight year servant American...

It would be nice to have bradders back but what about robbo? Was a star last season, always played his heart out! But so does brad! And is King a striker or a winger?

Why are we collecting strikers? Rhodes, Gomez, Kazim, Rochina, Best, Edinho and not to forget Loaners Cracking shaft and Slew... Add King to to that and we have 9 First team strikers... all right, 8, but when we think how weak we are at the back, why aren't we looking for reinforcements there?? Brad would be a great shout though!
