Blackburn's Gray Seeing Stars

Blackburn Rovers defender Michael Gray is reported to have had a "run-in" with England International Wayne Rooney in a Manchester Restaurant, the Panacea, over the weekend.

Former England International Gray, 32, who had indulged in one or two alcoholic beverages is said to have approached Rooney, his fiancee Coleen McLoughlin and other members of the Rooney party, apparently the female members in particular. A spokesman on behalf or Rooney said the following:

"Michael then began making a number of remarks which were offensive to Coleen and Wayne's other female guests."

"Several times, Wayne asked Michael to leave. It was a brief incident and as far as Wayne is concerned, he bears no ill-feeling towards Michael."

After the exchange of words, and more than one request for Gray to leave one swift Rooney punch would apparently floor Gray, himself dubbed "sleazy" by some tabloids.

The bad press is said to disappoint Manchester United but Rooney will receive no international discipline from United. Gray's fate on the other hand is unknown, he is said to have explained the situation to Mark Hughes however.

We've all been there, I don't mean making unwelcome advances to Coleen, I mean we've had one too many shandies resulting in us, I'll say making a "scene." Gray has not only been left with a black eye but more than likely also a boozed ego and sense of embarrassment...

Silly boy indeed, I couldn't help but chuckle when I read it and thought come on this has to go on the site, if for nothing else some light relief!

I grew up in the same area of Sunderland as 'Superstar' Michael Gray. For a time, he was well thought of, but the guy definitely has a drink problem and can be *very* abusive to people when he is in that state. I've seen it myself. Well done Rooney, I reckon!

Fair comment, if people behave like that sometimes (although I'm not one for violence) you earn it.
