Rovers Employees Could've Been Oppo

Rovers Employees Could've Been Oppo

In stead of being a part of the Blackburn Rovers squad travelling to Sheffield United on Saturday Francis Jeffers and Jason Roberts could have been lining up against Rovers had Neil Warnock got his way.

Jeffers, 25, came to Rovers on a free transfer following his release by Charlton Athletic and 28-year-old Roberts, signed for around £3 million from Wigan. Both strikers arrived on the same day, 3rd July.

Sheffield United Manager Warnock said the following in the Yorkshire Post:

"I went after a couple of players that Blackburn signed and we were miles away financially. We were not at that level."

He would be quick to point out that players hadn't rejected moves to Bramall lane due to concerns with the club staying up it was more down to the club not being big enough, or lacking funds that other established Premiership clubs, such us Rovers have.

Should either or both score against Sheffield United at the weekend it would be all the more disappointing for Warnock, although the Rovers fans will be more than happy!

Warnock is a character so you can't help but like him, so after Saturday I wish him and Sheffield United the best of luck.
