Rovers have made their ambitions clear to new manager Henning Berg with Global Advisor Shebby Singh reaffirming that the number one ambition this season has to be promotion.
'At this moment I think the ambition is clear - we have to get back into the Premier League,' Singh told Sky Sports.
'There's no other consideration, there's no other thoughts.
'I think we've put a nice balanced squad together. A big squad where we have players for the short-term, we have players for the long-term and the immediate-term.
'Henning's here now and when he looks at the squad, if he feels whichever term needs to be reinforced we will do that.
Singh understands the reservations that some may have over the club's appointment of a relatively inexperienced man but the club's chief spokesperson feels there is more to it than that.
'When you talk to him you can see certain qualities that over the years you have seen Sir Alex Ferguson express in his interviews, Kenny Dalglish express in his interviews,' Singh continued.
'Obviously Henning has learnt a lot from the great managers that he's worked with and at the end of the day we feel that we've got the right person.'
Derek Shaw has also commented and threw in the rather honest assessment that Berg was far from first choice but despite pushing for someone a little more refined Shaw is happy with the final conclusion.
Shaw, Managing Director of the club added - 'No he wasn't our first choice, far from it - we're not hiding anything there.'
'We had one or two people that we talked to who, for whatever reason, got ruled in and ruled out.
'Henning contacted me personally probably seven or eight days after Steve left.'
'There is a gamble and I think it's become more or less common (knowledge) that I thought we probably wanted someone with experience at this level.
'But, without a doubt, I've no qualms with this appointment. I think he'll be wonderful for us.'
