The Bryan Douglas Darwen End Stand
Blackburn Rovers have today announced that the Darwen End stand is to be renamed the Bryan Douglas stand.
As a token of appreciation for almost two decades of services at Rovers, Douglas' only professional club, Bryan will have a stand adourned with his name, in a move mirroring the late Ronnie Clayton being honoured with the Blackburn End.
Bryan, who became synonymous with Ronnie due to their playing days and service together, played for Rovers between 1952 and 1969 and made over 400 appearances whilst scoring precisely 100 goals. He also received England honours with 11 goals in 36 caps being achieved on the national stage.
As a universally popular individual at the club, Mr Douglas continued his work with Rovers long after retirement as well with Ronnie and Bryan entertaining guests in the Rovers lounge named after them on matchdays and also helping out with ground tours.
But whilst Ronnie sadly never got to see his richly deserved accolade Bryan will get to enjoy his honour for being one of the club's favourite sons.
