Nonda A Coup For Blackburn

Mark Hughes has been unable to hide his delight at the capture of Shabani Nonda on a season-long loan from Italian outfit Roma, saying Nonda is a real coup for the club.

The Dominique Republic of Congo International striker arrived on loan from Roma on deadline day and will be hoping he can impress enough to turn his loan into a permanent move come June next year, Hughes himself is in no doubt that Nonda has what it takes:

"To be able to bring Shabani Nonda in is a real coup and I'm really looking forward to working with him and seeing how he supplements the other forwards we have here."

Some Rovers fans may have doubt over Nonda`s fitness, injury problems like the horrific injury he picked up whilst playing for Monaco Click Here plus injury concerns during his time in Italy have been put to bed by Hughes. No one however can doubt Nonda's goalscoring prowess as 128 goals in 269 career games is nothing to be scoffed at. Hughes also said:

"He has a great pedigree, having averaged a goal a game during his career and has been transferred for significant amounts of money between major clubs."

"His last year or so has included a couple of injuries but he's fit and well now. He had an extensive medical and came through it with flying colours."

"He's a player of undoubted experience who first impressed me many years ago and he has a great physical presence."

The fans won't have long to wait before they can start judging Nonda, who is certain to be part of the squad travelling to Sheffield United on Saturday although it is highly likely he will begin his Rovers career on the bench.

I for one look forward to seeing Shabani Nonda, has a great record with some good clubs so I'm sure he'll do well.

I was a tad disappointed with his signing to begin with, but following some research into him, I can't help but feel excited about what he has to offer. He will provide more competition for our front pairing and like you say Hughes Da Man, he has an outsanding goalscoring pedigree. PLus I trust Hughes and his judgement.

I have to admit I'd heard of him, but that was about it, but like yourself once I knew of interest I looked into his history more, a goal almost every other game at any level is fantastic isn't it, plus you don't cost around £15m if you aren't something special. Hughes could have unearthed another gem here in the Nelsen mould?
