Ex Ewood Resident's View On Midfield

Ex Ewood Resident's View On Midfield

When Roy Keane left Manchester United, it was rumoured that Mark Hughes might be interested in signing the Irish Hard Man. But Sparky was quick to squash these rumours with the statement that Blackburn Rovers already had a thirty-year old plus midfield dynamo in Turkey's Tugay Kerimoglu. But it seems he doesn't.

Plagued more and more by injuries Tugay is less likely to feature any game for the full 90 minutes. Many Rovers know that when Tugay plays well so do the Rovers!

We have seen many reports and Mark has been very active in the marketplace during the open season but the departure of Bellamy meant that he had to concentrate on getting the strike force right. However, he is yet to find a replacement for the combative Turk. So who does that leave?

The usual rumour of David Dunn returning to Ewood as surfaced, Robbie Savage (love him or hate him) doesn't do a lot more than expend energy, Steven Reid, whilst being big and strong just isn't a playmaker, Emerton has dropped to right-back, Gamst, Pete, Gally and Bentley are all too young as it's an old man's role!

Does Hughesy lay awake at night worrying about this, just like I do? Unfortunately I can't see Rafa swapping Stevie G for Lucas...

Great article, Tugay has been missed bu as Ex Ewood Resident points out he's no "psring chicken" anymore, he needs replacing eventually.

I spoke to Tugay at the end of Souness' last full season, he was hoping for a two year extension but Souness was only offering him 1 year... in those two seasons since he has turned down two good money deals to play in Australia and Turkey - I certainly rate amongst the Blackburn Heroes alongside Shearer, Garner and Duffy.

That is loyalty! He's certainly a legend and should be rated alongside those players without doubt. You often find you only miss someone once they are gone, so if people don't already appreciate him they soon will as he'll not have much time left at Ewood, or will he? Will this season will be his last?

Championship Cost Per Goal So Far In 2016/17

The end of the Championship campaign of 2016/17 is only a month and a bit away from fans across the country but as we go in to the remaining weeks of the campaign...

Positive Signs For Bennett

Bennett was positive of Blackburn being able to see off Lancashire rivals Preston heading into this game at Ewood Park after the Norwich and Fulham results.

Minor Graham Setback

Blackburn had to do without Danny Graham against Preston following the groin problem that forced him off against Fulham last week. He could return against Brighton next week.

Hugely Frustrating

Mowbray admitted Blackburn didn't start the game well against Preston but had then been the dominant side so was 'majorly disappointed' not to record a victory.
