Rovers Sherwood approach rejected

Blackburn have been refused permission to speak to Tottenham's Tim Sherwood over the vacant managerial role at Ewood Park.

Sherwood is one of a few names on the shortlist to succeed Steve Kean but have been rebuffed in their attempts as Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is a known fan of Sherwood in his current role as assistant first team coach.

Rovers have made some glances in Sherwood's direction before and this constitutes the second time they have been told to do one by Spurs over the matter.

Let's get a move on here. I'm surprised he was the first choice in any case - untested in the big chair.

Sherwood is a practising highly rated coach who Spurs clearly are fond of. Shearer is a Rovers legend no doubt but the man is a dull pundit who shouldnt be put anywhere near the Rovers hotseat until hes got some experience beyond an 8 game stint at an already doomed club.

Steve Kean was a practising highly rated coach. I'm sure Sherwood would be better, hard to be worse really, but the focus should surely be on someone who's actually a) done the job before and b) been good at it. Rules Sherwood and Shearer out.

as a Spurs fan, i very happy to see Tim stay, as he seems to be doing a great job with our emerging players. in saying that, I couldn't begrudge him wanting to try his hand at management if he felt it was the way he wanted to go

Levy want to keep him as he is not " an assistant first team coach" but Technical Director . He is responsible for all team aprt from the first team and oversees the development and progress of younger players. Players are coming bthrough the ranks such as Caulker, Walker and Livermore. The article show how little research is done on stories. Blimey. They don't even bother to check what his current job is. Talk about the gutter press misleading the public!!

Does this mean tha: (a) all the applicants that our board has received aren't better than Sherwood. (b) Sherwood actually applied for the post and was one of the shortlisted applicants. (c) This is still rumour and speculation. ???

Shebby si the one pushing for Sherwood - he's singing his tune. Some others on the decision panel are pulling for others, but this should show how much sway Shebby can have when he wants to flex his muscles.
