Rovers nudge Holloway onto short list

Ian Holloway is the latest name to be linked with the Rovers job after it emerged he is on the list of manager's Rovers would like to approach.

The chances of luring Holloway from his current position at rivals Blackpool seems unlikely given the good bond between manager and the Seasiders but both The Sunday People and The Lancashire Telegraph are reporting that he is a popular choice amongst certain parts of the Ewood Park boardroom to be the clubs new boss.

But at this stage the odds of Holloway swapping sides of Lancashire appear a bit far fetched.

Holloway is quoted on Vital Blackpool (prior to the link to Rovers surfaced)as saying - 'I'm realistic about where we are, but I want to keep moving forward, I'm even more determined to be a success.

'There's something special about this club, it seems to just fit me perfectly.

'I'll keep going, I believe in what we are doing, and we won't stop working hard. If we keep doing that, who knows where we'll end up.'

Interesting one, but with the chances of us landing Tim Sherwood diminishing we may have to look elsewhere.

I want us to hurry up and offer him the job so he can say yes or no so we can move on, this is a right drag now!

I'd personally rate this as unlikely. Not an easy one to pry away, especially with them being a direct rival as well!!

Sounds doubtful to me. That said his track record shows a certain lack of loyalty at QPR and Plymouth where I believe he was 'suspended' because of his interest in other clubs. That may make this a possible deal.

Sorry lads, complete wishfull thinking. Expect a public knock back with a bit of a dig at our owners from Holloway in the next couple of days.

I'd much rather we took our time & made the right appointment because the club is in a very tricky situation, admittedly of their own making, but they need to appoint someone who will a) keep the fans happy and b) get the team promoted, and finding someone who fits both those criteria and is available at a reasonable price is very difficult.
