'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Trapattoni joins Ewood applicants

A rather surprising name has made it's way onto the Blackburn Rovers managerial applications list with news reaching us that Giovanni Trapattoni has applied for the managerial slot vacated by Steve Kean.

The Trap is currently the Republic of Ireland national manager but has put his name forward for the role, sources close to Vital Blackburn have been told.

Rovers have reportedly had over 20 managerial applicants including the likes of Alan Shearer, Paul Dickov and Peter Reid and word is that Shebby Singh and his team will be drawing up a list on Thursday to progress to the next stage of finding the new manager to take the club forward, which has become a shade more urgent since Bolton Wanderers are now picking from the same pool after the sacking of boss Owen Coyle this morning.

The search continues, but how would you feel about having 'the Trap' as the next Rovers boss?

Worth a cheeky bet as an outside shot I'd say!

As an Irish Rovers fan I can honestly say he is not the right guy for our current squad. He is a very stubborn individual who ideas are quite outdated. Just can't see him getting the best out of our players

Won't happen and probably for the best. I'm fond of him but hardly one for the future.

Trapattoni is retiring at the end of his Republic of Ireland contract at the end of the 2013-14 season when his contract expires. At the age of 73 it is highly unlikely he would want to get into full time day to day football management of the extent of the football league championship.
