One In and Two Out For Rovers

The summer transfer window has now closed, so other than emergency loan moves for Goalkeepers no one will officially come or go from any team until January 1st 2007.

So what happened surrounding Rovers on Thursday 31st August 2006?

Lucas Neill and Andy Todd had been expected to exit Ewood Park, but both are still here, which can only be good for the club. Although with Neill now likely to pre-arrange a free transfer move away from Ewood for next summer when January arrives the club have missed out on at least £2 million by rejecting Liverpool's bid. Maybe he will still sign a new deal but I'd very much doubt it.

Shefki Kuqi was one also hotly tipped to move on, and with Congolese International forward Shabani Nonda arriving on loan for the season from Roma this only made it all the more likely. Again this can only benefit Rovers at least until January as it gives yet another alternative. HIS EVENTUAL LATE, LATE MOVE TO PALACE CAME SO LATE IT EVEN CAUGHT ME OUT HERE!

The only player to leave Rovers on a permanent basis is Irishman Jonathan Douglas; an undisclosed amount saw him return to Leeds, with whom he spent last season on loan with.

Youngster Keith Barker, 19, also left Ewood, but this is only for a loan spell with Rochdale. The striker who has yet to feature in the first team spent a spell on loan last season with Belgian feeder club Cercle Brugge

In the coming days a full roundup of all the ins and outs for Rovers during the summer transfer window will be listed.

DEADLINE DAYS BIGGEST COUP:
The days biggest and arguably best deal saw West Ham United pull off an amazing double swoop for highly rated and much sought after Argentine duo Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano for undisclosed amounts.

Tevez has been linked with VERY big money moves during the summer to Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal. Alan Pardew has pulled off arguably the Hammers' biggest ever signings.

the one thing a team needs every year is new signings, mybe 2-3 more signings would have helped but it does not look like!

I ahve to say that the fact Blackburn didnt get a midfielder was a concern, think thats an area that needs something else, a creative player would have been nice, Nonda is qulaity though but will he be first team?? wot with Roberts in good form. surprised with Neill not going, but as long as he plays his part and is not looking for a new team for next yr. Todd just has to face up to facts that if you get cards every game then u cant stay in the team! Hughes needs cover for when Todd loses it. Is anyone surprised about the West Ham deals, now these players have been touted for £15 each!!! and that was the lowset price! for West Ham to beat the biggest clubs in the world to signing two Argentian internationals both 22 is there only me that thinks somethings up with that?

GOOD POINTS CLINT, A MIDFIELDER NOT ARRIVING WAS HIGHLIGHTED IN THE WHO COULD COME IN, AND THE FACT THAT ONE WAS ALLOWED TO LEAVE IS A CONCERN. I'VE COVERED A FULL ROUNDUP OF ALL THE INS AND OUTS AND WILL ADD THESE IN THE NEXT DAY OR SO.
