Emerton Keen On Right-back Berth
A superb performance from a rejuvenated Brett Emerton on Sunday seems to have made the Aussie winger keen on a permanent switch to right-back.
The combination of Emerton and David Bentley down the right in Sunday's defeat with Chelsea would prove to be a major plus from that match, so although this position is fairly new to Rovers fans it is a position Emerton himself is more than familiar with:
"I've played the last two games at right-back and I've enjoyed it so far."
"Hopefully, I'll continue to get the opportunities to do so because I'm enjoying my football at the moment," he said when speaking in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
The 27-year-old Australian International would also go on to add:
"I spent a lot of time at Feyenoord at right-back, so it's something I'm quite used to."
"I also played there on occasions with the Australian national team during the World Cup, so it's not as if it's completely new to me."
With this move freeing Lucas Neill to move across to central defence, or left-back, as he played against Chelsea, with Andre Ooijer's recent arrival, Ryan Nelsen hopefully back for the next Premiership game, possible new arrivals in the next couple of days and other options available the immanent departure of Andy Todd may not be felt as much as it could have.
