Slew joins Oldham on loan

Rovers have allowed young striker Jordan Slew to join Oldham Athletic on a six month loan deal.

Slew has been unable to make a breakthrough since joining from Sheffield United on deadline day last summer, as a result the club have loaned him out to League One Latics to gain further experience in a first team side.

What's more surprising is that Rovers seem to have hand picked the club for Jordan to join, having sent a current first team player on loan there a few seasons back.

The Oldham manager told the Latics official site - 'They saw how Jason Lowe came on when he came on loan the season before last and also the way we try to play football.'

I personally hope to see Slew recover some of the spark he was showing when he was a Sheffield United player.

I agree. Did not want to see us getting rid of him permanently. The lad clearly has talent, hopefully he bangs in the goals for Oldham.

Could be a very good move for the lad good luck to him. Hopefully blackman gets off the books soon!

Slew has been one of the few players scoring goals in pre-season, one in each of the last two reserve games. With our main striker out for 6 months, Rhodes (bluff) bid exposed. It seems to me that this is a little premature.
