Rovers add two more to the ranks

The Portuguese revolution at Rovers continues with two more added to the ranks last night after the signings of Edinho Junior and Paulo Jorge were both confirmed.

Both players signed on the dotted line penning three year deals at the club after completing medicals yesterday. The Portugeezers were both in action against Fleetwood and Accrington on Saturday and have done enough on trial to impress manager Steve Kean (yes I know).

Edinho is a striker who was monitored by Celtic recently and has joined from Olhanense whilst Paulo Jorge has taken the step of moving from Porto's academy to Rovers, both for small fees.

Kean in particular had high praise for Paulo Jorge who now has the dubious honour of being handed a Kean famous player comparison - joining the illustrious ranks of Bruno Ribeiro, Myles Anderson, David Goodwillie and Mauro Formica of being dubbed the 'new' somebody in roundabout fashion.

Kean told the LT - "He (Jorge) doesn`t look his age, he looks much older and shows a maturity beyond his years, he is like a young Gattuso."

Way to curse him Steven.

Any more for any more? We'll be able to field an all Portuguese line up shortly.

Can we not rebound the curse? 'Steve Kean - he's like a young Duncan Goodhew'

I'm not suggesting these two young lads are rubbish, but signing them so soon after a short trial might suggest that we're hoping it could influence Adrien Silva to sign with the portuguese connection. If so I hope it works...

I am surprised by how many non UK players we seem able to have. I thought that this season was the one that the football leagues restrictions were due to come into force. I must be wrong, does anyone know what the score is on the regulations that are supposed to be coming into force, to enable more UK players to be involved?

Kean is bolstering up his 'unsackability' status. Once half the team is Portuguese, he is going to say to Venkeys If you are considering sacking me, remember that your new manager should speak Portuguese to get the best out of the whole team.

Under 21's don't count towards the home grown limit, and I'm pretty sure if they spend 3 years at Blackburn, they'd count as home grown as they got older
