Kean wants Cox

Steve Kean wants to sign West Brom striker Simon Cox to help the promotion bid this season.

Despite already signing Leon Best and Nuno Gomes to boost the front line, Rovers are apparently in talks with West Brom over the move for the Irishman.

Kean feels that Cox is the right man to penetrate (sorry)Championship defences and get the goals Rovers need to top the league.

It is believed West Brom would want around £3.5 million for the 25 year old, who they signed from Swindon in 2009 for £1.5 million after he scored 32 goals in 54 games for the lower league side.

Cox is a full Irish international, representing his country 14 times to date, most recently at the European Championships in Poland/Austria.
