Rovers on the scout in the transfer market

Rovers seem to have finally been doing some homework in the transfer market after a few weeks of needless inactivity.

After sealing the capture of Murphy and putting in a bid for Leon Best the next in line for a move is also based in the North East.

Dan Gosling, formerly of Everton and currently of the Barcodes is wanted on loan to further bolster the midfield ranks which were boosted by the Murphy signing.

The move being lined up for the youngster is a season long loan with Gosling unlikely to be hitting the first team scene at St James Park any time soon with such a strong midfield in place up there.

As a result (similar to Best) he is looking for first team opportunities elsewhere which should lead to salesman Steve giving him a highly positive pitch at some point soon.

Watch this space...

Bid in for Leon Best, a midfield signing already in the bag and Gosling being sought as well, it's almost as if we are preparing for a player exodus.

Oh...

or building a bigger squad for a tough league

Our first confirmed signing is a creative CM who is too old and too much of a physical liability for the premier league, um, dont we already have one of those. now someone is talking Harry Kewell. Um hmmm not sure that one is such a good idea, read too old/physical liability, although I have to say I do like the Best interest, strong physical CF for the championship. just what we need but waiting to see if this comes off. all this activity or rumoured activity is making my head spin after so much inactivity from the club. Havent heard anything from the gaping maw of the chrome domed cretin for a while so it makes it all almost bearable.

I havent seen danny play too often but mostly everyone has a good opinion and his only worry is his fitness......i dont think the kewell deal will come round and best is waiting his options but i figure a deal will be announced soon there doesnt seem to be any other intrest so far.......

To be honest I think we need some central defenders!

Why do people look at Murphy's age and moan about him without looking at the facts? Sure he hasn't got many seasons left in him, but he played 40+ games for the last 2 seasons, where as someone like Owen Hargreaves is 4 years younger and has played a handful of games in that time. You have to look at the player's record! He's a risk, but he is also the first midfield signing of quality we have made in a while and we definitely lack a player that can spray balls round the park like he can. If he carries on as he has been playing for Fulham he will make a difference to a midfield that was very poor last season, and his experience can only help the team too - dismissing him as too old before he's played for us is pointless. This is a good start, clearly much, much more work to be done on the team though.

When Dan Gosling decided to leave Everton I was absolutely gutted- he had real potential and it looked like he and Rodwell could be an outstanding central force in the future, whether it was to be for Everton or England (how times change). Hope he can help you come back into the prem next season!
