Best on the radar as Yak replacement

Rovers have had a £2m bid for Leon Best accepted by Newcastle United and are now waiting to try and convince the player to drop into the Championship.

Best has been something of a cult figure at Newcastle after a good run of form but has recently seen opportunities to play become non-existent such is the form of Demba Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba at St James Park.

As a result he has been left sitting on his backside and Rovers are hoping the chance to get a run of games will be enticement enough for the powerful striker to head to the North West.

Best's potential arrival is designed to offset the upcoming departure of star striker Yakubu who is pretty certain to be off to China in a big money move to Guangzhou R&F.

A lot of polarising opinions on this one - what's yours?

Happy with it if it comes off. He might be tempted to hold out for a saner option though...

Bags of potential and I would definitely give him a shot, but on paper his goal scoring record isn't up to much, so i can see the "wiki" observers writing him off straight away.

Decent signing IMO.

I'm in 2 minds about this one. I dont really rate him as a premier league player but he'll probably be a hit in the championship. on the plus side atleast there is tranfer activity going on at rovers and its actually a replacement for someone leaving!!! hope its the first of many to come.

This would be a really good signing. A replacement for someone good leaving. That really hasn't happened, save for Scott Dann, if he counts as a replacement.

What about Stevens keans super signing, david goodwillie, is he not fit to replace the yak, ha ha
madonedale
What about Rochina/Goodwillie/Slew surely they should be getting the nod ahead of best really? Same with this Murphy Transfer. Rather see us tighten up our defence and send Robinson on a passing 101 course aka how to not give the ball away.
