Wael Gomaa To Join Ooijer At Rovers

Blackburn Rovers could soon follow up the capture of Andre Ooijer with another International defender in Wael Gomaa.

The six-foot plus 30-year-old Egyptian, who was linked with a move to the Premiership, and Rovers among others earlier in the summer is currently with Egyptian champions Al-Ahli, one of the biggest, if not the biggest club sides in Egypt, if not African Nations.

Rovers are apparently in talks with the central defender, who comes up against the likes of quality forwards like Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto'o in the African Nations Cup, is very highly rated.

I have never heard of this fella, has anyone?? I did hear that the the Centreback that was on trail at Arsenal, the African was coming to trail at Blackburn as well
Clint
I'VE GOT TO BE HONEST OTHER THAN BREIFLY MENTIONING HIM IN THE JOURNALS A FEW WEEKS BACK NEITHER HAVE I. I DO HAVE IT ON GOOD AUTHORITY THAT ROVERS ARE SERIOUSLY LOOKING AT THE GUY AND TALKING WITH HIM, HE'S VERY GOOD APPARENTLY! IF GOMAA ARRIVES, WITH OOIJER ALSO IN ARE THEY PAVING THE WAY FOR NEILL'S DEPARTURE? OOIJER CAN PLAY AT RIGHT BACK CAN'T HE.
Hughes Da Man
he can indeed and the way Neill played at the weekend, well will we miss him?? if the Liverpool story is correct then I'd like to see Kromkamp come in the opposite direction, as he can also play in midfield, although Emerton looks a promising rite back!!
Clint
Hey all, Iam an egyptian by the way, and im a supporter to Al-Ahly team, Egypt and whole Africa champion, and the best team in the middle east now, Wael Gomma has been playing for Ahli for about more than 7 years and i think he's the best defender Ahli has bought from other teams in the last 10 years, besides he has a lot of experience in his position in the field, but he has one disadvantage, he is a bit aggressive, like the Italian defenders, that's all i can say about him, and we all here in Egypt want him to go to your club, one of the best clubs in England and wish him best luck there. Thank you.
madbomber
THERE YOU GO, I'D HEARD HE WAS SUPERB, GLOWING REPORT FROM ONE OF HIS COUNTRYMEN, SO HOPEFULLY HE CAN JOIN ONE OF THE BEST CLUBS IN ENGLAND SOON.
Hughes Da Man
if he's good then get him in, all the better for the team
Clint
EXACTLY CLINT, I'VE HEARD VERY GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE GOMAA, SO HOPEFULLY THIS VITAL BLACKBURN *EXCLUSIVE* CAN COME OF SHORTLY.

Hey guys, I can tell u about Gomaa, I am a big fan of Ahly, we really gonna lose the lad! he joined about 7 years from a small club and used to have many cons but with a big team like Ahly and lots of work from our portugese genius manager, he switched int a John Therry class. Very good marker, eye on the ball, action on the ball and very positive attitude. Good luck Gomaa, we gonna miss u man. One more thing, he's been the best defender in the African nations cup 2006 and a main reason why we, Egypt won the cup.
Egyptian Prince
hi guys i am also Egyptian and a big fan of Al Ahly team , You only need to know that it is the african team of the century ,the biggist egyptian ,arab and african team. I know Gomaa personally he was a freind of mine ,we used to go to the college together and by the way he speaks english well as he graduated from the faculty of arts department of english. Wael is really the best defender in Egypt and he will be a great player in your team i hope him the best where ever he goes may be he was a little rough but i think he is a wise player now after 7 years in al ahly he is really a good add to the rovers and i can say that you gained at least 40 million fans in Egypt because you are about to sign Wael Gomaa to your team so i wish you and him the best of luck my regards thank you

SO..Gomaa..if this is really your wish to look for another chellenge abroad..then all the good luck in the world for you.. I really hope Gomaa joins the Premiership because he deserves it. He has proven himself to be the best defender in Egypt and Africa with strong determination and continual improvement. I've met Wael in Cairo in 2003. A very modest and polite guy. I know several Zamalek (Ahli's so-called rival, although I wouldn't agree) fans who are waiting for Gomaa to leave Ahly so they can start partying. Seriously! Sad. ALL THE BEST WAEL!!!!! :)
Mr. Y
dear eelleevveenn if wae wants a move ...then fine all the best for him ..he deserves that move..but.. I truely think he deserves better...blackburn now lies bottom of the premiership..already lost his best player 'craig belamey'...I don't think wael should move to england just for the sake of it...i think he deserves better team..and of course he deserves better money..not just a measley million euros for a defender of his calibre... as for improvement for the national team' sake..cut the rubbish..the lad never left egypt ..he is 30 year old..and already voted the best defender in africa leading his country to the african cup..balckburn will not improve that...
kmanharawi
EXCLUSIVE: Wael has skipped Blackburn, and has trained with Newcastle United on Tuesday!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Y
Not only has he trained with Newcastle, but there also have been some talks from Tottenham and Arsenal wanting to join the Egyptian Defender.
