Todd's Red Card Rescinded

Following an appeal Rovers Captain Andy Todd has had his red card overturned, leaving him free to face Everton tomorrow night at Ewood Park.

Television replays showed that Todd had indeed won the ball and not fouled Nwankwo Kanu in an incident that not only saw Todd receive a straight red card for a professional foul but also saw Portsmouth awarded a penalty, which Brad Friedel would save.

Following Alan Wiley's decision to study the footage he recommended the card be overturned, with an independent disciplinary commission agreeing. This will be a relief to Mark Hughes as he is already without a number of other defenders.

Hughes meanwhile hopes to conclude a deal for Andre Ooijer in time for the Chelsea game on Sunday, he said:

"We have made a number of increased offers for Ooijer."

"The situation is very much in PSV's hands but hopefully something will happen in the next 24 hours."

Ooijer is a central defender with years of experience at the highest level of club and International football and would be very much what Rovers are looking for.

You lot are very lucky that it was overturned considering the ammounts of other teams players who dont even get an appeal!

justice was well donr there as it was shown that Todd got the ball, no way it was a red!! Todd has a reputation but this time didnt deserve that. And Rooney complains of being picked on, take a look at the Rovers team - Savage, Neill, Todd - all refs know them b4 they take the pitch
