Givet situation explained

Rovers defender Gael Givet fears he may have played his last game for the club after it has come to light that a pre-match argument with Rovers boss Steve Kean scuppered his involvement in the abysmal 3-0 defeat to Swansea at the weekend.

Givet's absence was all the more stranger for the lack of alternatives available at both centre back and left back with Jason Lowe slotting in as an unorthodox left back with Martin Olsson unable to take part.

The papers explained Givet's absence as him refusing to play which has now been confirmed as wide of the mark.

The Lancashire Telegraph is reporting - 'The Frenchman did not refuse to play and that he was withdrawn after a heated exchange of words with the manager at the hotel pre match.

Givet`s absence forced Kean to play Jason Lowe as a makeshift left back and, with Grant Hanley now likely to miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury, Scott Dann is currently Rovers` only available centre back.'

People who are close to Givet have confirmed that he is looking to move on in the summer after falling out of favour at Ewood Park under Kean and becoming disillusioned with life at the club.

Looks like we have no choice but to continue with Bradley Orr at centre back!!

Kean needs to sort himself out before he drags the club in oblivion, why is it that as soon as a player disagrees with anything he says the player has to leave the club despite as in Givet's case this weekend we were desperate for somebody as C/B for a CRUCIAL relegation game... the majority of fans don't agree Kean should be manager, is it not time for him to leave as well ?

As every days slips by to relegation the mad Scotsman seems unable to handle the few remaining quality players at his disposal. It really is time for him to go. After all the owners have already told him that summer targets will be considered after the end of the season. Surely this means his days are numbered, 12 wins out of 54 is abysmal.

Ridiculous. Again - when Kean comes out saying "he's not in the right frame of mind to play", you have to ask why. It's his job to get the players ready to play. So he's basically not doing his job. Idiot.

Just how big is Keans ego? He is way out of his depth here. Rossp you've hit it on the head, its' his job to get them ready and instead his ego takes over and he stops Givet playing. Has he even looked at the table recently? Did he not see the game as a must win game where he has to play his strongest team? He's prob still deluded and thinks we're challening for Champions League. The mans a fool and he along with the Venkys have relegated us. GUTTED.
