Ooijer's Rovers Move Closer?

Maybe Andre Ooijer's proposed move to Rovers has moved a step closer following PSV Eindhoven coach Ronald Koeman telling Ooijer if he won't play he can't train with the club either.

It would appear that former Dutch International Koeman would not only be off the Christmas card list of Graham Taylor and many an England fan, but now also Ooijer, although in fairness, despite Koeman probably being keen to keep Ooijer he doesn't decide what the club will and won't accept.

Dutch International defender Ooijer is keen to leave PSV and play in the Premiership with Rovers, but as a deal has yet to be agreed he is unwilling to play, due to worries of picking up an injury. Due to this he has now been told to stay away from training.

'If you don't want to play games, you cannot train either. A coach has in this situation no other option than to send the player home. I had Ooijer in my starting line-up," said Koeman following Ooijer's refusal to play against NEC Nijmegen.

PSV are reportedly holding out for around £3 million for a player in the last year of his contract, having last summer allegedly been willing to accept half that amount. It was thought that a fee of around £1 million would have secured the 32-year-old's services, but that wouldn`t be the case.

Around £1.5 million should see PSV willing to do business, but until that, or a similar amount is offered he will have to either swallow his pride and let his performances on the pitch convince potential suitors once and for all that he's worth the price tag, or remain in limbo.

Who? Some old Dutch bloke, we have one of those who is pretty good, dunno but I guess you need something to wipe away the Pompey blues.

Andre Oojer is quality experienced centre back as proved in the world cup where he was immense for the Dutch. £3m is too much and PSV know it, it tells u that he's good if they are fighting to keep hold of him
