Rovers ease through at Claret expense

Blackburn Rovers youth team are through to the FA Youth Cup final after a 2-1 victory at Turf Moor last night that saw us emerge 3-1 winners on aggregate.

Another excellent crowd that just topped the 10,000 mark were on hand to witness another lively encounter with around 1,500 making the trip down the road for the away side's support.

Although goalless at half time the tie livened up with Hugo Fernandez finished with aplomb in the second half to send the away support mental before a quick fire second on the night arrived in the shape of a speculative thirty yard free kick from Blackburn captain Ryan Edwards.

Rovers seemed to be on easy street as with a 3-0 aggregate lead it seemed to be all plain sailing and over bar the shouting at that point but Burnley did manage to peg one bag after an Adam Henley handball led to Steven Hewitt finding a way past Matt Urwin from the spot.

But it was little more than a consolation as Rovers marched through as deserved winners over the course of the tie but credit the Dingles for making it as far as they did given their lack of academy status.

Rovers now lie in wait for the winners of the other semi which is between Manchester United and Chelsea, with Chelsea leading 2-1 from the first leg.

The final will be a two legged affair with details to be confirmed once the other finalists are established.

Well done the Rovers boys. Continuing to honour Jack's legacy.
