International return for Yak

International return for Yak

Yakubu has been recalled to the Nigeria international set up for the upcoming match against Rwanda.

Yak has been out of the Nigerian national squad for a while now after earlier in the season claiming that he wanted to concentrate on club commitments before returning to represent his country.

That tactics has certainly paid dividends with the big man bagging 13 goals in 17 starts for Rovers so far in an individually impressive campaign.

Yakubu is due to leave Rovers to join up with the side managed by Stephen Keshi on the 26th of February (the day after we face Manchester City at Eastlands) and so end his 'semi-retirement' from the international game.

This was always going to happen - nobody in the Nigeria set up can even half his goal tally!

Most of His goals are from inside the 18 yard box, no 'long rangers'. In African football tap ins and goals from inside the 18 yard box are RARE. He should know that!!!
