'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Kean (gasp) stays positive about the window

With nearly 18 days gone in the transfer window and with still no confirmed signings on the board you;d be forgiven for feeling a bit down about our chances of progress.

But not Steve Kean who has insisted today that Rovers are very active behind the scenes in trying to bring new faces to the club to help with the relegation battle.

And despite the slow progress Kean is confident of success on a few targeted names.

Kean told Sky Sports - 'I think we can be active in this window, I think it's been quite slow for a number of clubs and we're one of them.

'I think it's going to pick up pace. We've done it in the past where we've mentioned names and then when they've been slow or we've been refused permission to get them in it's come back to haunt us a little bit.

'So we'd like to do our business as much as we can under the radar. We've been very active, myself, the directors and the owners. We've had extensive lists and got bids.

'We don't want to say to who, and how many and for how much. But the fans can rest assured we're being very, very active in this window. We're hopeful we can bring new faces in.'

When asked about Fulham's Andy Johnson Kean was fairly secretive... well more than usual anyway.

Kean continued - 'We respect Fulham and we don't want to disclose what level that's at. That will remain private between the two clubs. That's one name.

'There are another four or five names we're actively trying to pursue. As you know you can have the biggest list in the world, but when you knock on the door of another club and you ask if they're available sometimes they say no. And you've got to respect that and move on.'

Cryptic Chris Samba tip at the end there?

Nothing we haven't heard before but I wonder if he realises this will come and bite him on the backside come Feb?!

I'm not sure why but i'm still clinging on to the hope that we might see some money spent somewhere. Have to agree though it's the all too familiar woffle coming out of Kean's mouth. He needs to man up and just say the owners simply won't cough up any rupees, he would get more respect that way.
