Hoilett hints at change of heart, IF...

Rovers winger and contract rebel Junior Hoilett has hinted that he could stay at Blackburn Rovers... if Venky's show some signs they are willing to finally put their money/actions where their mouth has been.

Hoilett has been stalling over his new deal for months as he looks at options away from Ewood Park to further his career.

It was thought that getting him to sign a new deal was a lost cause due to the turmoil and volatile situation at Rovers but the players close advisers have today hinted that he could still remain at the club if the current owners finally show some intent to back up their early vision for Blackburn.

The Lancashire Telegraph are reporting - 'Meetings have been held in recent weeks between club officials and Hoilett`s representatives in a bid to agree a new deal, with his current contract expiring in the summer, and it is understood that remains the Canadian`s priority.

Sources close to the player have categorically denied yesterday`s reports that the player has handed in a transfer request and insist he would commit long term to the club, as long as they can see signs of Rovers progressing under owners Venky`s.

Hoilett has been at Rovers since the age of 13 and, having come through the youth ranks to emerge as an established Premier League performer, wants to continue his development at Ewood Park.

Rovers` Premier League relegation fears are a concern though, along with the lack of transfer activity, and Hoilett could wait until the summer before making a decision on his future, to see if there are signs of Venky`s fulfilling their early ambitions.'

As it currently stands he's a goner, time for the owners to change their tune and back up what they've said all along with some actual actions.

His recent performances do hint that the player has his mind elsewhere...

He wants the same as the fans, so I respect him for that. However, if his performances don't drastically improve before the end of January, I'd sell him for £7m+ as his head just doesn't seem to be in the game atm.

We won't get £7m for him now, maybe £5m if we're lucky. He's been very inconsistent all season IMO and it's difficult to see where his best position is. The "bigger"clubs won't mind waiting until the summer and paying the compo and the rest won't have the funds at present. Looks like 3 or 4 million in the summer unless Venky's get real and pull their finger out of their ar5e.

I can understand why Holliet is stringing this out ... although I do believe that he should show a bit more loyality to the club that has developed him from the age of 13!!! he has had a big impact on Rovers but a limited impact from the bench of any club he would go to ... I get annoyed that managers like Redknaap come out and say they admire players like Samba and Junior and then they wont play when bought .. after all he admired Bassong, Bentley, Pavlechenko, Hutton to name a few !!! Junior would be better to stay with us but his head will be turned by the 'bigger' clubs to his detriment.... just ask Bentley!!!

Maybe his mind has been elsewhere this season, but I'd keep him if possible. At his best he's unplayable.

Holliet has options as everyone is aware so is under no strain to follow company policey so good on him trying to force the clubs owners to save the club he has been with for so many years. If it works and we buy players and keep him gr8 news but I cant see it.
