Clement to leave Rovers post

Steve Kean is again without an assistant after Paul Clement handed in his notice with Rovers to help force a move to French side Paris Saint Germain.

It had been strongly rumoured over the last few days that Clement was keen to go to sunnier places and so it has proven with a move likely to be confirmed imminently.

The Independent is reporting - 'The Blackburn Rovers manager, Steve Kean, has suffered the indignity of losing his second assistant in four months and there will be no money for a replacement after the departure of Paul Clement to Paris St-Germain.

The Independent understands that Clement had already left Rovers' Brockhall training ground yesterday, having agreed a three-year deal with the French club and cleared his possessions during a two-day break for the players.

It appears that he has had to force the move by handing in his notice, with Rovers reluctant to see him go. But the prospect of a reunion with Carlo Ancelotti at the Parisian club awash with Qatari wealth is a far cry from Blackburn, where the desire to drive costs down even further will see first-team coach Ian Brunskill taking on Clement's job and no new recruitment to Kean's support team.'

Kean has even commented on the departure already in the Lancashire Telegraph - "Paul has left the club. I don't want to announce where I expect him to end up but I expect him to be unveiled somewhere soon.

"It is a blow for us but when you get opportunities like Paul seems to be getting, you can't blame him for taking it. It is an exciting time for him.

"We are quite far down the line of appointing someone else and I am hopeful that will be done by early next week."

If he doesn't want to be here then we can't force him. He was a good appointment but the more pressing matter is on the pitch and in the transfer window.

Move on.

Seems like we're not actually get anyone new in just promote from within. Brunskill is respected though - more so than Kean!

Great news for him, and in his position I'm sure that most of use would have done the same. Terrible news for us though - things did seem to get a bit better when he arrived, so how will they go now?
