Kean Contract Confusion Cleared Up.... Somewhat...

Blackburn Rovers have today released a statement on there official website trying to bring clarify to confusion raised in several articles raised over the last few weeks in newspapers regarding a possible new contract for Steve Kean.

The statement reads;

'Following recent media speculation Blackburn Rovers FC can confirm a revision to manager Steve Kean's existing contract has been completed'. 'An agreement made in the summer has now been formalised'.

'Contrary to some reports there is no change to the length of the contract'. 'The club respects that all contracts are private and confidential and no further comment will be made'.

This comment has however raised further questions as to Venkys intentions toward the manager position.

With our visiting owners leaving the stadium 45 minutes early at the weekend during a poor performance against league bottom Wigan Athletic whilst 2-1 down. Reports and rumours hinting a possible disappointment and emergency meeting, and Venkys refusing to comment. It was rumoured further that Kean's position might be under review by the owners of the club.

Regardless of this, The Mirror reported that Kean might be in line for a shock contract extension and pay rise.

The statement by Rovers may bring a small level of calm to the 'majority' of fans who want him removed from the position of manager at the club. However Venkys distinct lack of action over Rovers poor start to the season, and there continued lack of communication with the fans and media outlets over clarifying certain matters continues to be of immense concern. This will no doubt result in continued protests at forthcoming games.

This show of faith, and signing of a new contract contradicts recent comments made by Kean stating; 'Yes, there have been discussions about a new contract, but I have told the owners that this is an inappropriate time to conclude any new contract discussions. Instead, the real issue is for me and everyone else to concentrate on the games'.

With Rovers still languishing 2nd from bottom in the Premier League, and results still failing to impress, questions have to be once again asked over Kean's honesty in these matters.

Its just embarrassing that anything like this is even being mentioned never mind actually happening, its like the Venky's are just out to destroy our once proud club. Disgraceful.

I've seen everything now, what more can you say about it...it's an absolute joke, it stinks, it's disgusting. I'm starting to believe that we'll still have this tool in charge next season when we're slugging away in the championship. Venky's were true to their words... He is unsackable it seems.

Once upon a time every were I went i was proud to say i was a Blackburn fan, unfortunately this is no longer the case :( If this was any other team he'd be gone and before any one mentions Wigan there club does not tell them lies or even worse nothing at all
Marcus:)
If anything I would say this adds to the confusion?! It also shows that Kean was telling porkies!!!
