Third New Zealander Signs Up For Rovers

Blackburn Rovers complement of New Zealanders will be further boosted next week with the addition of promising young midfielder/forward Tim Payne, after impressing during trials.

He will be joining fellows Kiwi's; veteran Ryan Nelsen and academy youngster Cameron Lindsay.

Payne who is a standout pupil of Sacred Heart, New Zealand`s top football school, is quoted by '3 News' as saying "can`t wait" to go overseas.

Danny Hay, a former premiership footballer with Leeds, spotted his talent early on.

"I`ve seen him since he was 12 years old and watched him develop," Hay says.

"I`m so proud of the player he's become."

"I wouldn't bet against him getting game… for Blackburn before the end of the season," he says.

Payne`s exceptional performances at the Under 17 World Cup caught the eye of Blackburn scouts.

Vital Blackburn Rovers welcomes the young man to the club, and would like to wish him every success in the future.

Excellent news, we do seem to have a good core of young players but we must make sure the experience is present to go alongside it as we seem a bit "youth heavy" at the moment...

I agree Mikey. But it does look like we have an exciting crop of youngsters coming through the ranks atm.
