'If It's Football, It's Vital'

"Take it or leave it" Nelsen bid

Portsmouth Boss Harry Redknapp has reportedly made a final "Take it or leave it" £4.7 million bid for Ryan Nelsen.

Rovers flew out for their pre season tour of the Netherlands on Friday with Nelsen absent due to a "minor hamstring injury" but this, news of a big money move for Robert Huth and the possible improved bid from Portsmouth will lead to some assuming the worse. Nelsen`s own comments did little to ease the worry.

'Portsmouth is still going on and it's with the suits at the moment. There's some interest there but I don't know where things are at, I just kick a ball around.'

Since his arrival in January 2005 Nelsen has proved a big hit not only with the club but with the Premier League as a whole. It wasn`t long before is performances saw him rewarded with a new and improved contract, with another in an attempt to dissuade him from a move away from Ewood apparently being talked about.

'It's just at the talking stage at the moment," he would say on these contract talks before adding.

"It's nice to think that someone thinks you are all right but you have to put that out of your mind. When you start thinking about potential moves, your head can explode.'

If money is an issue the chance of a big pay rise could tempt Nelsen to move to Premiership rivals Portsmouth. Could such a move help fund the potential move for Robert Huth, again mere speculation at this time?

All with an interest in Rovers will hope that Nelsen soon recovers from his injury and starts the match at Fratton Park on August 19th in the Rovers starting line-up!

It's still a lot of money even in todays daft market.

He's a good footballer but that kind of money is hell of a lot for him isn't it? If this is true Blackburn would bite our hand off wouldn't they...

I'LL AGREE IT IS A LOT OF MONEY BUT YOU WILL GET EXACTLY WHAT YOU PAY FOR IF YOU GET HIM. I THINK SPARKY COULD FIND ALMOST 5M TOO MUCH TO REFUSE BUT I COULD BE WRONG? WHAT DO YOU OTHER ROVERS FANS THINK?

I think Blackburn would be making a mistake to get rid of Nelsen, he would be hard to replace as, if the rumours of Huth are correct no one has really seen him play in a run of games. Nelsen is still young and one of the better centre halfs in Premiership, why would u get rid of him and why would he leave for Portsmouth, no way as good as B'Burn
Clint
IT'S NOT ALWAYS A CASE OF WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO GET RID OF A PLAYER, SOMETIMES THE PLAYER WANTS TO LEAVE. I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS THE CASE WITH NELSEN THOUGH.
