'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Venky's set to reject Qatar takeover

Rovers fans hoping for a change of scenery at club ownership level look set for some disappointment this morning as news has emerged from India that the club has been declared 'not for sale'.

Qatar Petroleum made a bid for Rovers over the course of the weekend and with vast wealth at their disposal it is fair to say the potential switch would have benefited the club on the face of it.

It has come to light that the Rao Family were in a full scale argument over whether to sell the club with the majority actually keen to sell and avoid the hassle that has come with running Rovers over the course of the last few months.

But for whatever reason the club have put up the blocks and the one time offer that the Qatari's have proposed will now more than likely pass by the wayside and they will more than likely move onto another Premier League club which is the groups aim in this move.

Rovers were viewed by them as a relatively cheap EPL club and with the 2022 World Cup due to be held in their country the Qatari group are keen to make their mark by acquiring a club portfolio that already includes French side PSG.

But Venky's have apparently said no.

Incredible scenes that look set to end in the least ideal way if you are a fan of Rovers.

I can hear the faint cries of "Venky's out" already... I hope the Qatari's can afford a few more quid

Well that's just great isn't it? What a chance. A once in a generation chance. This is becoming ridiculous - it just seems like heels are being dug in and it's about stubborness more than anything else.

Rumour has it Qatari could come back in with a larger bid as it is still a cheaper option than the next club.

I miss being a mid-table club, out of the limelight with reasonable cup-runs. Life was far easier then!
