Kean gives Junior a message

Rovers manager Steve Kean has passed on a message to want away winger Junior Hoilett - if you leave make sure it's for a top club.

Hoilett has put off signing a new deal at the club for months now and strong rumours have suggested that the Canadian has told the club he will leave for the best bidder when given the opportunity.

This leaves Kean with some egg on his face as for months now the Rovers boss has been proclaiming that Hoilett would be signing his new contract 'very soon'. Kean though maintains that the deal is still on the table and that he is still hopeful that Hoilett will sign.

It's up in the air and he's tried this technique with Phil Jones before but Kean had the following message for the youngster.

Kean told the Lancashire Telegraph -"I thought it had moved forward but it doesn`t seem to have gone anywhere over the last week.

"I will speak to Simon Hunt, our sports director, and we`ll see where we are with his family and his representatives. We`ll speak to the player and hopefully we can push that over the line because it seemed to be very close last week.

"It`s a concern that he hasn`t signed but we`ll look to pick it up again and get it settled."

'We are the best place for him to play every week before taking the next step up to the top.

'I've told him that if he ever leaves the club, he should be going to a top-three or top-four club'

'I don't know if he's at the stage yet that if he went to a club like that he'd play consistently.

'But we can give him games where he's going to feature and be a match-winner for us.'

Insane that it has rumbled on this long and hopefully Junior may change his mind?!

He will be Bentley no. 2 If he leaves too soon for a bigger club. Come on Junior, sign it and keep playing regularly. Highly talented and we are seeing glimpses of magic but he is not consistent enough yet to go to a top 4 club and he won't get that consistency sitting on the bench.

If all that's stopping him signing is the £15m release clause then just give him that because that would be a good price for him. He's a good player in a poor team at the moment, anywhere else he'd be a squad player.

Another Shaun Wright-Phillips? Hughely talented leaves from playing week in week out, and is only now start to get to play again.

we really cannot afford to lose him this season even if it means losing him next to nothing in the summer. hopefully, things can get sort out by then

Oh for pity's sake, SHUT UP KEAN! Just get him signed, or not, and get on with it.
