Club release fan statement

Rovers have this afternoon released a statement clarifying the owners commitment to the club and addressing the recent fan protests.

But it wasn't all doom and gloom with the club praising the recent support shown in recent matches against Spurs and Newcastle.

The statement comes after vast and richly deserved criticism towards the owners for a lack of communication with the fans.

An official Rovers statement reads - 'The club is in receipt of emails from supporters (Sasman if this is you mate that's a blinding effort!) and we all witnessed the protest after the game versus Tottenham Hotspur.

The club have acknowledged the supporters' right to protest and, in accordance with the wishes of a section of supporters and with the assistance of the police, have facilitated this protest on two separate occasions.

During the game on Sunday, the loud vocal support that the supporters gave the team pushed them on and although ultimately we fell short, the performance was a strong one, aided by that support. The applause that sent the players off the field was also an expression of appreciation of their effort, thank you for this support.

All supporters can be assured that everyone at the club is hurting as much as the supporters as we all care very deeply about the football club. We all want what is best for the club and we are striving to be successful for the supporters and the town.

As supporters did at Ewood Park for the exciting win against Newcastle United, we ask that we focus our attention on efforts on the pitch for the important Barclays Premier League game versus Norwich City on Saturday.'

Almost reads like a system generated statement!

Interesting side note to this statement is that it reads practically the same to an email a Rovers supporter received the other day from Paul Hunt!!

They're all hurting deeply? As deeply as we all are after a lifetime of supporting the club? They're doing well having been around for, oh, 5 minutes. Hurting deeply? Give us a break...
