Rovers set to appoint Clement as assistant boss

Steve Kean has been handed a boost with news that his suggestion of former Chelsea coach Paul Clement to be his new assistant looks set to get the go ahead.

Kean has been without a sidekick for a couple of weeks now after the very sudden exit of John Jensen prior to the Manchester City master class.

But Clement coming in provides the under fire Rovers boss with a full complement of back room staff and to be fair, an assistant manager with a great reputation from his time at Chelsea.

The Daily Mirror are reporting - 'Steve Kean's job prospects are set for a major boost - with Blackburn`s owners clearing him to name Paul Clement as his new No.2

Kean has been looking for a right-hand man since John Jensen`s departure, and the vacancy staying unfilled raised new questions about how long he could survive.

But Kean - back from a trip to see the owners in India - is ready to appoint ex-Chelsea coach Clement as Jensen`s replacement.

Clement and Kean know each other from a spell together at Fulham and the new man`s experience could lift a squad stuck in the bottom three and whose fans are calling for the manager`s head.'

A manager getting backing or one more attempt before they blame the whole thing on him?

Good to see someone with a bit of pedigree come in! Might be able to sort out a little bit of the mess...

Has he ever been an assistant manager before? Seems to have a good rep as a coach, a risky appointment as he has very little experience in the role he is going to be given. Sound familiar?

I have no idea what you;re talking about Dave?! ;)

This is a good appointment. Whether it is enough to get our team sorted tactics wise and save the Egg head is another question.
