'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rovers handed welcome fitness news

Rovers manager Steve Kean has three extra bodies to pick from as his side travel to Newcastle tomorrow.

Morten Gamst Pedersen, David Goodwillie and Michel Salgado are all back in the mix after missing the midweek clash with Leyton Orient and in the case of the first two the thrilling 4-3 win over Arsenal.

Ryan Nelsen and David Dunn are both still sidelined with medium term injuries but other than that the other lads have made it through the week injury free and leave for Newcastle in good spirits.

Kean's on the Official Site this morning clarifying - 'I think the doubts will be David Dunn, he felt his calf tighten before the Arsenal game, so this one comes around a little quick'

'As it will for Ryan Nelsen, I think he'll be a couple of weeks.

'But we've got Morten Gamst Pedersen, Michel Salgado and David Goodwillie back, and the rest of the lads are all fit and well.'

'There's plenty of options and that is something we've always wanted. We wanted good competition for places.

'And then with some of the other lads getting a run out against Orient in midweek gives them some match practice, some minutes under their belts.

'So with the lads coming back from the treatment room there is stiff competition which is excellent.'

Rovers should be picking from - Robinson, Bunn, Salgado, Lowe, Olsson, Samba, Givet, Dann, Hanley, Grella, Pedersen, Petrovic, Nzonzi, Vukcevic, Formica, Rochina, Hoilett, Yakubu, Goodwillie, Roberts, Slew.

Surely the Attack-Yak won't be dropped in favour of GW, and MGP maybe behind Olsson now...

The only good news there is Goodwillie's recovery. We've done better without Pederson and Salgado. I hope this wont mess with our line ups.

Newcastle will prove a tougher test than the last coule of games, Formica, Rochine, Simon, and Petrovic might get a bit of a shock. At least if the starting line up isn't working, there will be options. Positive about tomorrows game.

It sounds awful but i don't think i'm that thrilled MGP is fit as I can see Kean playing him when clearly we're better without him. He needs to dramatically up his game this season IMO if he is to have any chance of staying in the team.
