Yak - Rovers are my first priority

Yak - Rovers are my first priority

Rovers striker Yakubu has sent more good news the way of Rovers fans this morning by pledging his immediate commitment to Rovers at the detriment of his international career.

The Yak has been in the international wilderness with Nigeria since the World Cup in 2010 and has now ruled out pressing for a return in favour of establishing himself with the greatest team that I am certainly aware of.

Yakubu told the Kick Off publication - 'If I'm called up by Nigeria, it's just to fire up the strikers, the team is not having problems with scoring goals in recent games'

'I just need to prove myself at Blackburn and show that I can still play at the highest level. If I get a call from Nigeria, then I know I must have impressed a lot here.'

Want to impress? How about a goal against Newcastle tomorrow please big man?

I feel mentally this is about the right call - if he does establish himself with Rovers then the Nigeria stuff will follow.

Yea I agree but would be a big blow to lose him in jan/feb if Nigeria make it through to the African cup nations.

Feed the Yak and he WILL score!! He seems to have a great attitude and he is a natural goalscorer that we have sorely lacked for such a long time. I hope he get's on the score sheet tomorrow.
