Cotton picks his time to sign pro contract

Rovers youngster Robbie Cotton has signed his first ever professional contract at the tender age of 17.

The highly rated midfielder was given his first squad number (number 40) this season prior to last week's game against Leyton Orient and was an unused sub in the FA Cup last season.

He has also made very steady progress through the ranks of the England set up and has earned rave reviews in the youth team set up.

Rovers' boss Steve Kean told the Rovers Official Website - 'Robbie is a youngster with great natural ability, who we hold in very high regard. Even at the tender age of 17, he has already shown enough to suggest that he could make an impact with the senior squad in the near future.

'He is the latest in a long line of young players coming through the ranks here and we are delighted to see him signing a full professional contract.'

Some nice news to start the morning off with.

Sweet. Am already looking forward to him stalling on a new deal for a release clause in 3 years' time.
