Zonz deadline day bid rejected

It has been revealed that Steve N'Zonzi was subject to a bit of deadline day interest but the two bids that came in for him were turned down out of hand as Rovers fought to keep their key players.

The Zonz is back in the side this season after a hit and miss campaign last time out and his abilities alerted a club who wanted a bit of the lanky Frenchman.

Kean wouldn't name the club involved.

The Rovers boss told the Lancashire Telegraph - "There was a bit of interest for Steven'

"I don`t want to say which club but there were two bids that came in for Steven from the same club and we fought that off and managed to keep him.

"I think Steven`s got great quality and he`s improving all the time.

"He came back pre-season in fantastic condition, had a really strong pre-season and it`s no surprise that there are some big clubs interested in him."

Keeping hold of players like Olsson, Zonz and Chris Samba is as good as making any further signings as they are the nucleus of the future.

If he can get back to his debut seasons form, add in Petrovic bedding in and getting fitter.. you wouldnt want to come up against that as an opposing CM player would you?

I'm glad he's staying. Alongside Petrovic, and with Samba and Dann in behind, he'll be part of what is potentially a very strong core to our side.
