Brett's exit confirmed

Rovers have this morning announced that a deal has been struck for Brett Emerton to return home to Australia to play for Sydney FC.

Rumours were rampant yesterday that Brett could be off after 8 years at Ewood Park and the club have confirmed that Emerton's future lies in the A-League.

The good news is that Brett will play for Rovers one more time before he heads off into the sunset.

Rovers website is reporting - 'AFC side Sydney FC made an approach to Rovers for Emerton and an announcement on his future is expected shortly, although any deal would not be concluded until next week, allowing the Aussie international to be involved in Rovers' Barclays Premier League match against Everton on Saturday.'

As many have said yesterday, he will be sorely, sorely, missed.

Bad news as Brett will be very difficult to replace... he can play competently in about 5 different positions. How many players can do that?!

always liked his attitude, a good servant. You do seem to get some decent loyal players at Blackburn don't you?

longest serving player at the club now, very loyal, sad to see him go, personally i would rather play brett at right back rather than salgado, good luck and genuinely a great loss to rovers (you hear that. diouf)
