Transfer 4- Simon Vukcevic

Steve Kean has today announced the signing of Montenegrin international footballer, Simon Vukcevic on a 3 year contract

Fact File

Name- Simon Vukcevic
DOB- 29/01/86 (25 years)
Height- 5ft 10 (1m79)
Position- Attacking Midfielder

History

Simon's senior career kicked off at Partizan. Turning in dazzling displays in the 2004/5 season, hopes were high for the young man, who had the ability to change the game in a matter of moments, through a delightful pass or a long range screamer. However Vukcevic just couldnt kick on in the following season moving onto Russian outfit Saturn, where his form dipped even further.

Vukcevic's next move turned his career back onto the right track, as Sporting Lisbon came in for the versatile midfielder. Simon shone in 2008, single handedly winning matches for the Portuguese outfit, a hungry attitude on the pitch backed up with his technical ability meant he became a fans favourite.

A couple of modest seasons saw a fluctuation in Simon's form, and a fall out with manager Paulo Bento meant less game time for the midfielder.

Blackburn Rovers pounced, 2 million pounds, a bargain deal for our Rovers.

International

Simon debuted for Serbia-Montenegro in 2004 at the tender age of 18. In 2006, with the split of nationalities, Simon chose to play for Montenegro ahead of Serbia, earning 27 caps to date, as well as his 5 for S-M.

Welcome aboard, Simon Vukcevic!

This guy is different quality to anything we have had in midfield for ages. Exciting stuff.

it can go either way again, but it all depends on how kean decides to use them. it's no use if he decides to sit the talent on the bench like he did w/ formica...

I still can't believe we bagged him for £2 million!? Do Sporting know he's gone? have we just thieved him!?

Mikey, did Kean still have a balaclava on when he announced the signing? Well, this should offer us a bit of balance on the wings and give MGP a kick up the proverbial...

Yep - bargain price - with all the other clubs paying fortunes, this I hope will be another great value for money rovers signing.

Seems to be some genuine excitement around this signing (as opposed to the sheer relief when Goodwillie and Petrovic finally got round to being confirmed). I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do - I hope he lives up to his billing!
