George John deal edges closer

Rovers hope to complete the signing of defender George John by the end of this week at the very latest.

Rovers have agreed an undisclosed fee with John's current club FC Dallas believed to be in the region of 1 to 2 million pounds.

John has boarded a plane to Greece where he will pick up his Greek passport which means he will not need a work permit to play in England.

From Greece John will fly to England on Wednesday morning to discuss personal terms with Blackburn - which should not be a problem as John is on less than 1000 a week at Dallas.

Rovers hope to have John in the squad by the end of the week and he could well end up available for selection for Saturdays game against Everton at Ewood Park.

Good news I think! He looks a great bargain!

Hopefully will be a good move by us. Just worried about just throwing him in to soon like we did with ooijer.

He looks like a good buy to me, watching the "YouTube" vids at least anyway. He constantly pester's attackers for the ball and looks menacing. Looks good in the air as well.

unless you are a "designated player" in the MLS, the wages are low. a few years ago some Toronto FC players had to live with the manager because they didn't make enough.

I'm all for signing a defender, but is this guy any good? I don't trust youtube clips as they only put on the good stuff!

Tubzz, seriously lad you need to work on your punctuation and spelling: it's like reading one of my primary aged kid's English work... I'm all for an unknown defender from over the water - they tend to be solid lads but like Red_ice says, he'll need a bit of help getting to speed. I think the Admiral and Samba will be our best bet for the time being whilst he gets up to speed...
