With the second week of Premier League action about to get underway, bwin.com has put together a timely betting preview of all of the top-flight matches due to take place over the next few days. All odds quoted in the article were correct as of 12:00 on Friday, 18th August but are subject to change.

The 2011-12 Premier League season got off to an unpredictable start last week when just one team managed a home win, and this was only secured in the final fixture of the game week.

Manchester City thrashed Swansea 4-0 at Eastlands in the Monday night match to join Bolton Wanderers at the top of the first league table, with the Trotters having surged to a 4-0 win over QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday.

But judging by bwin's 3Way football betting odds, the trend towards away team dominance is likely to be brought to an end over the next few days.

Of the ten Premier League teams playing away from home over the course of Saturday, Sunday and Monday, only Man City are favourites to record a victory.



The Citizens are 3/4 favourites to beat Bolton at the Reebok Stadium, with a win for Owen Coyle's side priced at 15/4 and a draw at 49/20.

However, this is not to suggest that away teams are travelling to matches without hope.

Liverpool, for one, will be looking to earn three points at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal at odds of 19/10.

The Gunners look vulnerable despite being 7/5 favourites to win - not least because of an injury crisis, the sale of Cesc Fabregas and the impending departure of Samir Nasri - with a draw available at 11/5.

Meanwhile, Newcastle will be hoping to build on their record against Sunderland last season, with the Magpies having beaten their local rivals 5-1 at St James' Park and drawn 1-1 at the Stadium of Light.

However, with the Black Cats having performed impressively against Liverpool in their opening game, they have been installed as 11/10 favourites to record only their second win against Newcastle in 11 attempts.

A draw is available at 9/4 and a Newcastle victory at 49/20.

Interestingly, the Sunderland-Newcastle 3Way betting market is identical to the one for Swansea-Wigan, with the Swans 11/10 for the win, the draw at 9/4 and a Wigan victory at 49/20.

The Welsh side will be looking to bounce back from their mauling at the hands of Man City but the odds on a Wigan success look attractive given they had one of the better away records in the Premier League last season.

Saturday's remaining games all look home bankers, as does Monday's match between Man Utd and Tottenham.



Everton are 1/2 to beat QPR (25/4) with a draw at 11/4; Aston Villa are 13/20 to beat Blackburn (9/2) with a draw at 5/2; Chelsea are 7/25 to beat West Brom (8/1) with a draw at 9/2; and United are 31/50 to beat Spurs (17/4) with a draw at 11/4.

Sunday's 13:30 game at Carrow Road looks to be the hardest of the weekend to call, with Norwich (3/2) looking to record their first victory of the campaign against Stoke 7/4, with the draw at 9/4.

The Canaries will be looking to capitalise on the fact that Stoke played away in Europe on Thursday, although the Potters' 0-0 draw against Chelsea in their opening league game of the season suggests they are likely come away with at least a share of the spoils.

This leaves Wolves against Fulham, with the Old Gold favourites (13/10) and Fulham at 41/20 to win and a draw priced at 9/4.

Given the Cottagers drew nine games on the road in the last campaign, the latter option looks like the best bet.

But more importantly, what do you think? Will it be another successful week for away sides? Can Swansea and Norwich really justify their status as favourites and beat Wigan and Stoke? Will Man City record another big win against Bolton, or can the Trotters continue where they left off against QPR? And can Arsenal put their problems behind them and beat Liverpool?
